Paving the Way to Affordable Healthcare in Nigeria with Grant Access and Health Insurance
3UD is thrilled to announce that Salud, an innovative app designed to revolutionize healthcare access in Nigeria, is currently in production. As Nigeria continues to face a major healthcare access challenge, with the majority of the population paying out-of-pocket for medical services and only 10% covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Salud provides a critical solution to bridge this gap.
Despite the availability of nearly $108 million in healthcare grants each year, many Nigerians remain unaware of these resources, leaving them to bear the financial burden of healthcare costs. Salud addresses this challenge by offering a user-friendly digital platform that educates Nigerians on healthcare grants from the government, the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF), and international donors.
The app will cater to Nigeria’s 169 million internet users, with 52% of the population using smartphones, providing easy access to vital information and helping users navigate available financial assistance programs. Salud aims to empower Nigerians by increasing awareness and utilization of grants, significantly reducing out-of-pocket expenses and making healthcare more affordable.
Currently in development for both Android and iOS platforms, Salud will also enable users to manage their medical data and track their eligibility for grants, offering a comprehensive solution to Nigeria’s ongoing healthcare challenges. In the future, the app will also include health insurance options, further expanding its capabilities to ease the financial burden of healthcare.
